TOMI Film Festival - The 'Other' Movie Industry was founded in 2007 by Ephraim Benton and Tonisha Johnson in an effort to build relationships between the filmmaker and the business of entertainment.
CREATING KARMA is about an uptight Manhattanite who becomes a poet after she loses her job for turning thirty, moves in with her new-age therapist sister, and meets Mr. Wrong, the owner of a poets café.

CREATING KARMA PACKS THEM IN ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, 2010 IN NYC
JILL WISOFF, director, and cast including co-writer Carol Lee Sirugo and composer Joel Diamond, were in attendance at the Memorial Day weekend screening of CREATING KARMA at the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts that took place in Theater for the New City. Standing room only! This was the first screening of the 2009 theatrical edit of the film in a film festival in the US!
Following close on the footsteps of a satisfactory screening in London, UK at Portobello 2008 (our friend and fellow filmmaker Marcello Paganinni hosted for the film in lieu of representation from Fantasy Creature Films LLC) we screened November 8 at the S.N.O.B. film festival (Somewhat North of Boston) in New Hampshire which ran November 7-9 in Concord...OUR NEW ENGLAND PREMIERE! The website is finally back up after issues with iweb not being supported as Apple products moved to icloud, but now we’re back.
An HD upres of the film was made last year using a hardware solution that became available thanks to the invention of the Ninja. The process gives a competitive edge to the film that it didn’t have before for both broadcast and internet portals seeking HD content.
Creating Karma had its limited theatrical release in 2009 in Los Angeles on October 16 and on the East Coast at the Bethel Cinema in Connecticut on November 13 with ads in L.A. Weekly and the New York Times following 2 years on the festival circuit where it won 2 best feature comedy awards. Our last theatrical screening was in the June 2011 Underground Howl Festival, celebrating the spirit of Allen Ginsburg and the artists of the East Village, at the 5C Cafe & Cultural Center on Ave. C. The film continues to get offers of foreign sales representation and is with a cable vod distributor. Hopefully this year, there will be finances available to prepare the film for high quality, HD internet accessibility. In the meantime, limited DVDs in SD anamorphic wide is available as a pre-release DVD from this site with the interactive virtual board game that won’t be available elsewhere.
